Manipulated Cells: diary of a cancer daughter
This is a personal project started by Greater Manchester based Photographer Claire Basiuk. It follows the journey Claire and her family undertook from the moment her mother was diagnosed with Cancer in July 2010.
Using a mixture of personal diary entires and photographs Claire honestly open up her feelings and emotions to the reader.
The idea started as Claire's final university project, since then she has pushed an promoted it further; continuing to write the diary entires and capture the relating photographs since the end of her degree and whilst her mother continue to battle and live with this ugly disease.
The project has since been mentioned in a number of national glossy magazines most notably womans magazine, Company Mag.
After creating miniature booklet of the series Claire sold them to help raise money for The Christie Charity, a specialist cancer treatment hospital based in Manchester,
Unfortunately towards the end of 2011 Claires beautiful and brave mother, Susan Basiuk, lost her fight with the disease; this has pushed claire to complete the project in her mothers name.
A completed booklet will be available to purchase soon in the shop area. Until then there are a limited number of the origional booklets, which take the story from the beginning to the end of the her university life.
LIMITED NUMBER OF THE ORIGIONAL BOOKLET AVAILABLE
There are currently a limited number of the origional booklet which captures the time between Claire finding out about her mothers cancer to the end of her university degree.
At present Claire is finishing the series of images and entries to bring an ending to this project. All be it not the ending anyone would've wanted.
Since her mothers passing Claire has started new ideas and fundraising events to help raise further funds for causes which were close to her mothers heart.
The booklets are £3.50 including P&P.

On the Wednesday 23rd November at 5:20pm Susan passsed away surrounded by family and loved ones. She fought right until the end and was in no pain.
She was a beautiful person both inside and out and all who knew her will agree she will and is already greatly missed. Her strength has been remarkable especially in the remaining weeks and primarily in the past couple of days.
Her love and support to all she met is something that will always be remembered, and will life on in the thoughts and hearts of all who hold her close and dear.
This project, in honour of Susan raises money for The Christie Charity. There are also a number of other pages where money is being raise in Susans name.
To a woman who meant a lot to so many, we love and miss you, but your prescene can still be felt by all who hold you in their heart.
